La manzanilla, ¿para qué sirve?

WHAT IS CHAMOMILE?

Chamomile is an excellent natural remedy for many ailments. This plant has been used since ancient times to cure illnesses or even to scent temples and palaces. In fact, this infusion was already consumed more than three thousand years ago in Ancient Egypt! Did you know?

Chamomile is a beautiful yellow flower with white petals. An interesting fact is that its characteristic apple-like aroma gives this flower its name, "manzanilla" (little apple).

Chamomile is cultivated in fields in countries such as Spain, North Africa, and South America and is considered one of the most popular medicinal plants in Spain.

But, what is chamomile good for?

BENEFITS AND THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES OF CHAMOMILE INFUSION

First of all, since chamomile is an herbal infusion, it does not contain theine, making it perfect to consume at any time of day. Additionally, because it contains no theine, it is a suitable drink for both children and adults.

Components such as chamazulene and alpha-bisabolol provide excellent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiseptic properties.

Aids in good digestion

Have you ever felt bloated after eating?

For heavy meals, a cup of chamomile tea can help improve digestion by relieving feelings of heaviness and bloating. A study showed that chamomile has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial capabilities. Therefore, chamomile is ideal for reducing stomach acid levels that cause pain and discomfort.

Helps reduce stress and promote sleep

By improving digestion, we also reduce the stress caused by the discomfort of an upset stomach, and we feel lighter, allowing us to rest better at night.

The soft and penetrating aroma, along with the delicate flavor of chamomile, produces a great sense of calm that allows us to lower stress and anxiety levels. In fact, a 2016 study published in the journal Phytomedicine showed that its daily consumption significantly reduces anxiety symptoms.

Finally, thanks to its antioxidants, it promotes drowsiness, helping to induce sleep and improve rest. And we already know that good rest is very beneficial for starting the day better!
